Click here to turn the stream tracing off The North Branch of the Root River extends from a predominantly level topography dominated by row crops in the West to the limestone cliffs and heavily wooded bluffland near Lanesboro. Along the way the North Branch joins with the Middle Branch and by the time it reaches Lanesboro has developed into a fairly substantial river.
